Brooks Nader doesn’t care what anyone — even her family — has to say about her love of weight-loss drugs.
The Sports Illustrated model was candid on her reality show with her sisters, Love Thy Nader, and to Bustle that that her modeling career skyrocketed after she lost weight.
“The facts are that when I started GLP-1, my career took off,” Brooks told Bustle.
“I’m not saying it’s OK. I’m not saying it’s right. Everybody is different — but I lost 30 pounds, and I booked all the jobs.”
Brooks first made waves in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue, eventually landing a coveted cover in 2023.
But behind the glossy success, she admits her body was under constant scrutiny.
“If I didn’t get a job, I would ask my old agency for client feedback,” she said.
“The direct feedback was that I needed to lose 30 pounds. I didn’t shed one tear over it. I didn’t feel bad for myself. I just said, ‘The facts are they want me to lose weight. How can I achieve that?’”
Since being open about taking GLP-1s, Brooks said she’s received messages from people who relate to her story.
Even as she admits the drug has become a “crutch.”
“I’m still on it. It’s a crutch for me, too. It’s not healthy. I should get off it; I’ll be honest about that.”
In addition to using weight-loss medication, Brooks also confessed to getting veneers, a nose job, “salmon sperm” facials, and a Botox neck lift.
The idea that Brooks’ career only took off after losing weight is both heartbreaking and telling — a reminder of how warped the industry’s beauty standards still are.
