Actress Melissa Gilbert met Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Britani Bateman and Jared Osmond and had an interesting encounter in NYC that resulted in discovering Britani’s engagement ring was stolen from her purse.
The Little House on the Prairie actress took to Instagram to share her run-in with Britani and Jared.
How it started:
Melissa wrote, “The other day, we were walking past The Plaza Hotel and I said, ‘We just walked by Britani Bateman and Jared Osmond from RHOSLC.'” Her husband, Tim, made the introduction. “I’m shy,” she explained. “I would never have done it alone. ‘This is my wife, Melissa Gilbert from Little House on the Prairie.’”
“I laughed and said, ‘Big fan. Love your show'” to the RHOSLC friend of.
“Britani seemed a bit harried, like she wasn’t really in her body. She thanked me for being a fan.”
Melissa continued, “Jared had lost his phone. A random woman currently standing in front of the Plaza had found it. Britani, again, thanked me for being a fan.” Donnie and Marie’s cousin “lamented being made to be the villain of the show. I said I understood; I’d done my time on a reality show years before.”
“Then, Britani did an Irish Goodbye. Just peaced out completely. She ran to a cab, leaving the three of us standing there.”
“Jared continued to tell us about all the things he said that didn’t make it on the air. Then Jared did a version of the same Irish Goodbye to catch up with [Britani] and Poof! They were gone.” We then continued on our merry way. I’m pretty sure they had no idea who they were talking to.”
How it’s going:
After Britani declared herself a fan of Melissa, who competed on season 14 of Dancing With the Stars, she dropped the bomb. “Someone had literally just stolen my engagement ring out of my purse, is what was happening.”
“I was absolutely freaked out and had a lead on it, which is why I hailed a cab without even saying goodbye,” continued Britani. “Jared was freaked out as well, but it sounds like he felt more social than I did.”
Melissa responded to Britani’s. comment. “Oh my lord! That explains why I thought you weren’t in your body!! Off. That’s scary! Hope you got it back!”
She continued, “Also … ENGAGEMENT RING!! My head just exploded.”
Britani responded to Melissa’s accurate read on the situation. “Yeah, you sensed correctly. You must be very intuitive. 🫶😊😘.” The What About Me? star added, “😂😂 well, I guess there will be no engagement until we can get the ring back!!”
