Real Housewives of Salt Lake City‘s Britani Bateman allegedly owes her former mother-in-law $100,000 for money she used fraudulently for “her benefit.”
Page Six obtained court docs that show the RHOSLC personality’s MIL, Sandra Underwood, is owed money from the ‘friend of.’
The claims against Britani:
Sandra claimed that Britani took the money that had been deposited into a family trust. Allegedly, she used it for “her own personal benefit.”
“Britani willfully, maliciously, and through intentionally fraudulent conduct, also converted Plaintiff’s funds and now refuses to repay the funds.” Additionally, the complaint states Britani “has been unjustly enriched.”
In March, Sandra’s attorney had sent Britani a letter asking her to return the $100,000. However, Sandra claimed in the filing that “to date [she has] not yet received the return of my money.”
The letter, which was an exhibit in the filing, shows Sandra received $338,889.31 after she sold her Utah home.
Britani’s alleged con:
Allegedly “at the urging of Britani,” Sandra deposited $100,000 into the trust. She thought that she could “request it to be withdrawn at anytime” and that it would “be returned without any objection.”
The trust, titled “Integrity Trust,” was created in 2019 by Bateman’s dad Melvin Merrill Martin as the settlor, while she and her mom were designated as trustees. Cathie [her mom] passed away years ago, according to the letter, and John was named as the successor trustee.
“As Britani knows, Sandra is in her 80s and as she has aged, her cost of living has gone up mostly because of health issues which most elderly people experience,” the letter states.
Lawyers argued that Sandra’s “limited income” of approximately $1,600 is “not sufficient” to cover the costs of her medical care and prescription needs.
John’s mom is asking, “out of simple decency and morality,” that Britani do the right thing. They hope she pays back the $100,000, “plus interest at the statutory rate prescribed by law.” They also requested Britani cover any attorney fees.
