Beverly Hills 90210 star Brian Austin Green described his relationship with his former co-star, Vanessa Marcil, as “toxic.”
On his podcast, Old-ish, (how did someone not recommend a better name?!?!) David Silver BAG detailed the time spent with the General Hospital alum after she joined the show in its 9th season in 1998.
BAG and Vanessa’s rocky relationship:
The twosome dated for several years after meeting on set. They welcomed son Kassius in 2002. Later, Vanessa and Brian were involved in a lengthy custody and legal battle.
“Relationships have been interesting for me. I had some major missteps. The relationship that I had with Vanessa was very toxic in that way. It wasn’t a loving, caring relationship.”
Brian shared, “With my mom, everything was about me. With Vanessa, it wasn’t that at all.” (Ummmm, ick.)
“After two years, you’re kind of looking at yourself in the mirror, asking, ‘Who am I at this point? There’s not one piece of me that’s left. My relationship with everyone around me has changed.’ That relationship ended up not working out.”
Vanessa previously alleged that she raised their son Kassius “alone.” BAG denied the claims and said it was “frustrating” to read “continued lies from a 50-plus-year-old woman.”
The 90210 star – who appeared as a main character in all 10 seasons – went on to find love with Megan Fox. They were married from 2010 to 2021 and share three sons.
“Megan was a breath of fresh air coming out of what felt like Vietnam.” Brian’s co-host, Randy Spelling – yes, Aaron’s son and Tori’s brother – pointed out how welcoming their son was a light during a dark time.
“He was by far the first time In my life where I stepped outside of myself. My insecurities and my things didn’t carry the same weight that they did before because he was just my world. I wanted him with me every second of every day. We had our routines. We had our things.”
Brian’s current relationship status:
Today, BAG is happily engaged to Dancing With the Stars alum Shana Burgess. The real life couple competed on DWTS together on season 30 and placed 13th.
Shana and Brian share a 2-year-old son named Zane.
Becoming a parent changed BAG’s life for the better. “I absolutely love being a parent. I think that was the first time in my life where I really felt like this is what I’m supposed to be doing.”
