Formerly imprisoned con artist, Anna Delvey, will compete on season 33 of Dancing With The Stars. Anna became a household name after Netflix‘s Emmy-nominated mini-series, Inventing Anna, became one of the streaming service’s most popular English-language TV series.
Anna Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, was jailed in 2019 for posing as a German heiress. She was charged with grand larceny after she stole over $200,000 from businesses, banks, and friends while posing as a fake heiress.
From house arrest to the ballroom:
According to Page Six, Anna’s been “under house arrest while waiting to find out if she’d be allowed to stay in the US after completing her sentence. The terms of her house arrest were recently relaxed, allowing faux heiress to work and to travel freely within 70 miles of her home.”
She’s been given a Social Security number, was allowed to return to social media, and was granted “special permission” to travel to Los Angeles to film ABC’s juggernaut competition series.
She’s not the first contestant to have served some time. Past contestants include Tommy Chong, Lil Kim, Teresa Giudice, and Steve O have all seen the inside of a cell. However, Anna is the first DWTS contestant who became a household name because of their crimes.
Allegedly, Anna is already en route to LA to prepare for the show.
In case you missed it:
Mirrorball champion, Witney Carson, will return as a pro-dancer for DWTS 33. In a video message to Good Morning America, Witney announced her return. “I am so excited to announce that I am coming back for season 33.”
She teased, “Just you wait until you hear who my partner is. He will sweep you off your feet. We are so ready to get that Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.” Not if Anna Delvey Anna Sorkin has anything to say about it …
