Dancing With the Stars kicked off its 33rd season with 13 celebrities, but audiences are obsessing over Anna Delvey‘s ankle monitor.
The convicted felon, who is currently serving time via ‘house’ arrest, was costumed from head to toe in an ombre of colors from blue to gold. Along with detailed fringe and shimmery embellishments added to the costume, Anna’s ankle monitor was styled as well.
Who is Anna Delvey?
Known as the “fake German heiress,” the con artist posed as a wealthy socialite for years. She gained access to the upper-class New York social and art scenes from 2013 to 2017.
“In 2019, a New York state court convicted Sorokin of attempted grand larceny, larceny in the second degree, and theft of services, and she was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in prison. After serving two years, she was remanded into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for deportation to Germany. In October 2022, Sorokin was granted a $10,000 bail bond and released from prison.”
“Netflix paid Sorokin $320,000 for the rights to her story and developed it into the 2022 miniseries Inventing Anna. Sorokin’s life story has been the subject of multiple other television shows, interviews, podcasts, and theater productions.”
Anna ‘Sorokin‘ Delvey was given a Social Security number, was allowed to return to social media, and was granted “special permission” to travel to Los Angeles to film DWTS.
In case you missed it:
She’s not the first DWTS contestant to have served time. Past contestants who have seen the inside of a cell include Tommy Chong, Lil Kim, Teresa Giudice, and Steve O. However, Anna is the first DWTS contestant who became a household name because of their crimes.
