Congratulations to Amrit Kapai and Nicholas Kouchoukos from Family Karma on their growing family.
A rep for Amrit and Nicholas told PEOPLE their big news.
The announcement:
“Well, we’re certainly excited to become official daddies!” announced the Bravo TV alums. “Jokes aside, we’re thrilled for this new chapter.”
“Becoming parents as a same-sex couple is deeply meaningful for us โ not only because we’ve dreamed of starting a family, but also because it represents love, resilience, and progress.”
“We feel honored to be stepping into this new chapter and can’t wait to share our lives with our child. It means everything to be building our family.”
…and next comes baby:
Amrit and Nicholas’ little one is due via surrogate in November. The couple was married April 2022 – as seen on Bravo – in a multi day event that involved traditional culture with a modern twist.
“We were elated when we found out that our surrogate is pregnant. It was so surreal to hear the news we had been anticipating for so long.”
“Each of us has wanted to be a father as long as we both can remember. Knowing our dream is coming to life puts an ear-to-ear grin on our faces.”
Start spreading the news:
“Sharing our big news with close family and friends has felt incredibly joyous. Specifically, sharing the news with both sets of parents who are very eager for their first grandchild” was a highlight. “The support and encouragement we’ve received has been reassuring.”
“We’re thrilled to continue sharing the news and be another example for other gay couples. If it’s happening for us, it could happen for them.”
What’s in a name?
Amrit and Nicholas haven’t yet found out the sex of their baby, but they’ve started talking about names. They seek something that combines elements of both their cultures.
“Candidly, we’re still navigating through the last name conundrum.”
“As for our baby’s first name, we’re going to stay away from traditional American and Indian names, and likely choose something that fuses the two cultures. We’re also leaning towards a shorter name.”
