Nia Sanchez is catching heat after calling out unhoused people in a now-deleted Instagram story.
The Valley star posted a video venting about her chaotic day with four kids under four, which apparently came to a head at a public park.
In the clip, Nia described the space as an “infestation” of unhoused individuals.
“There’s holes everywhere, construction tape, it’s broken down,” she said, listing off everything that had already gone wrong that day while her kids were “screaming bloody murder.”
When she arrived, she added, the park was “infested with unhoused people who, the ones that are awake, seem like they are partaking of things that are not healthy.”
Translation: she believed they were using substances. She also noted that one person was bathing in a sink.
Naturally, social media called the moment tone deaf.
She was frustrated about a rough day with her (healthy, housed) children, while the people she was describing are navigating actual survival.
A Reddit user even shared a screenshot of a message they sent to Nia, explaining that her language was dehumanizing.
Nia replied:
“100% agree. I honestly don’t know why I used that word and removed the story. It was not the right choice. I’m truly sorry.”
