Reality TV vs Fatherhood:
In an ad Brody did with Frida Baby to promote ball-protecting boxers, Spencer slipped in the comments to make a snarky comment.
Spencer asked Brody the million-dollar question …
“What hits worse, rewatching the show or a toddler kick to the balls?”
The Hills hunk quipped, “The only thing worse than a toddler kick to the groin is re-watching season 3.”
Season 3 Spencer:
Heidi Montag‘s then-boyfriend engineered himself into the villain role. Spencer even admitted to being “the most hated person in the world.” Brody even praised him as a behind‑the‑scenes producer, which helped the show explode in popularity.
A notorious feud erupted when Lauren Conrad broke off her friendship with Heidi after suspecting Heidi and Spencer of starting a fake sex tape rumor about her and her ex, Jason Wahler. Hence, the birth of Lauren’s iconic “You know what you did!” moment.
Following Lauren’s falling out with Speidi, she forged a closer connection with Brody. That further amplified the tension in his friendship with Spencer.
Brody and LC:
Brody was cast as Lauren’s “showmance.” The Olympian’s son was convinced by Spencer to break off his real‑life relationship with Nicole Richie. That way, he could go on a fake double‑date with Lauren and Heidi.
Though it played out as a romance on camera, Brody later acknowledged in interviews that the relationship with LC was never real, just good TV.
Brody wasn’t wrong. The Hills became MTV’s top cable show among viewers aged 12–34, with season‑premiere ratings rising 44% from season 2 (to around 3.6 million) and peaking at 4.7 million viewers, which was the top cable telecast of the year.
