Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt found light and positivity thanks to fans after the couple and their two kids lost everything in the devastating LA fires.
In fact, Heidi’s 2010 bop, Superficial, FINALLY made it to the top of the international pop music charts. That’s thanks to Spencer spearheading fans to buy, download, stream, and share his wife’s music after their home and all their tangible memories were reduced to ash.
The Hills alums detailed their lives since wildfire took their home on Good Morning America.
Speidi mourns the loss of their home and memories:
Heidi recalled, “Spencer was like, ‘Grab anything you want to keep.’ But, how do you chose?” A tearful Heidi explained how her “brain stopped working” because she was so “overwhelmed” in the moment.
There are “so many things that can’t be replaced. So, I grabbed my kids’ teddy bears.”
Spencer added, “The worst was seeing our kids’ room, which was so magical. We do story time every night. It’s our routine. So much love is in there.”
“Our son’s bed started burning in the shape of a heart. This is out-of-body. Insane.”
Your home “is a place you love that’s a refuge from the world,” remarked Heidi. “To have that gone is a really difficult concept to deal with daily.”
Spencer explained, “I feel like a ghost. I don’t have a single photo from before an iPhone existed. The dumb little things that are on your shelves. They’re all gone. Not a single nothing.”
Heidi described her and Spencer as “house-poor.” They were able to afford their home, but they didn’t live extravagantly. “Everything is a hustle, is a grind.”
“So, we are counting every single dollar that we make. We are working really hard. Like, we take one trip a year.”
The couple agreed that “The fan support has been such a light in such darkness.” They described the support they’ve received is “life-changing.”
A positive that came from the devastation:
Heidi’s Superficial is number one on iTunes!!!
An emotional Spencer began, โHeidi getting to number one on iTunes feels so good.โ Weeping, he continued, โIt feels so good!โ
โWhat a negative thing that people turned into a positive thing. Iโm going to stay up all night longโ to bask in the joy of his wife topping the iTunes chart. This is keeping me โso positive,โ added Spencer.
โAgain, Iโm so thankful for all the people who are buying the music, streaming it, sharing it. It is keeping me so pumped upโ for the future. Spencer explained how โ for fifteen years โ Heidi has made music. โWe believed in it.โ
