Nicole Curtis’ HGTV show has been canceled after she used a derogatory racial slur while filming.
Radar Online posted a video on Wednesday, Feb. 11, showing Nicole using the n-word on set.
The clip captures Nicole immediately realizing what she said and asking production to “kill” the moment — but it ultimately still made its way online.
Notably, the footage surfaced the same day her show was set to return.
PEOPLE obtained an exclusive statement from HGTV regarding its decision to cancel the series.
The network said it was “recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of Rehab Addict. Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees — it does not align with the values of HGTV.”
The statement continued:
“Accordingly, we have removed the series from all HGTV platforms. We remain dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion across our content and our workplace.”
Nicole also issued an apology to TMZ addressing her use of the slur.
“I want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary and never has been, and I apologize to everyone,” she wrote.
Regarding the cancellation, the former HGTV star said she’s currently focused on her family rather than her career.
“My focus, at this moment, is rightfully on my relationships and my community — the people who truly know my character and where my heart is,” she said.
