Mikayla Matthews is responding to Taylor Frankie Paul’s latest claims.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star clapped back at Taylor’s assertion that she’s not only responsible for MomTok’s success, but also for the opportunities the group has received because of it.
“It’s honestly crazy that we’re even arguing about who created what or who’s more relevant,” Mikayla wrote via Instagram Stories on July 9.
“This show was pitched to us, by the way (me, Mayci, Whitney, and Taylor), about stay-at-home moms providing for their families and, of course, ‘MomTok.’”
However, Mikayla did acknowledge that Taylor’s involvement in the Mormon soft-swinging scandal helped propel the group to viral fame.
“If they wanted a show about one person or the swinging drama, they would’ve done that.”
This marks the second online altercation between Taylor and Mikayla in just the last few months.
Surviving or Thriving:
The internet accused Mikayla of being insensitive to Taylor and Dakota Mortensen’s drama, with many labeling her a “mean girl.”
Taylor then added fuel to the fire by minimizing Mikayla’s skin struggles, comparing them to the custody battle and other “real issues” she’s dealing with involving her exes.
The mother of four also argued that, for her to be considered a “bully,” there would have to be a power imbalance—which she believes doesn’t exist in their situation.
Mikayla fired back, accusing the former Bachelorette star of “constantly threatening to ruin someone’s life publicly.”
“Constantly reposting things and repeatedly pushing the narrative of, ‘I’m the reason you have this. You only got it because I turned it down. I’m a star and you’re not as interesting. Don’t forget it,’ seems like weaponizing and manipulating your following to keep yourself in that power position to intimidate the people around you over and over.”
Taylor recently updated her Instagram bio to read “creator of MomTok and SLOMW.”
Naturally, her castmates didn’t take well to the proclamation—especially Mikayla and Whitney Leavitt.
Taylor also shared an Instagram Reel highlighting the opportunities she’s received (and turned down) in an attempt to prove that many of those doors were opened because of her.
