So You Think You Can Dance Judge Maksim Chmerkovskiy had strong feelings about Jan Ravnik being cast as a pro on Dancing With the Stars.
Maks, who competed on The Traitors US season 2, took to his YouTube channel to explain why Taylor Swift‘s backup dancer isn’t qualified to be a pro.

According to Maks, there’s pressure to be “blind” and silent when providing commentary for DWTS pros.
“I’m sorry. Jan has no business being a pro on Dancing With the Stars. There are zero foundation, technique, quality, and understanding of the partnership. Bro, I’m getting emotional. It is absurd. It’s unreal how blind we have to be and God forbid say what is obviously there.”
Maks aired his grievance. “[Jan] had no idea what a foxtrot was supposed to look like. How are you going to expect him to teach it and deliver that message in a format that is completely different from even ballroom dancing?”
“We had this criticism weeks ago. I was like, ‘Is anyone going to explain it to him?”
Maks feels Jan had “one dance that delivered some sort of direction. Then, off a cliff. Jan, wherever he is, I have zero against him whatsoever.”
This isn’t the first time Maks made a bold statement about season 34 of DWTS …
Before Jenna Johnson (his sister-in-law) and Corey Feldman were voted off, he shared something I think its safe to say Jenna told him in confidence.
“Jenna has a bit of an uphill climb with Corey,” explained Maks. “[It] is easy for everybody to say from [outside]. But, I know that she’s having a much more difficult time with this entire thing, and to the point that it is really difficult for her.”
