The Valley‘s Kristen Doute detailed the ‘Miami Girl’ storyline fromย Vanderpump Rulesย and how she felt “manipulated” by producers on multiple occasions. Her revelation came after appearing on Amazon Prime Vide’s competition show, The GOAT.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T:
“The amount of acknowledgement that I felt from the producers, and the amount of appreciation I felt” on The Goat was different than on Pump Rules. “They weren’t manipulating me. They were treating me like a producer, as someone who knew what I was doing. I could not go back to a show that would treat me like a little kid, or manipulate my life, or manipulate my conversations. At this point, I know what I’m doing. It’s been over a decade.”
Manipulated reality:
Kristen explained that when she filmed VPR, producers told her to “walk up to Ariana [Madix]ย at the bar right now and say this.” While the James Mae designer may have been thinking and feeling the things she said, she “wasn’t ready in that moment” to confront her. “When we’re at work, I would not have normally gone up to her and said something like that.”
“So, as we can see in the season I got fired from SUR for telling my manager to ‘Suck a dick,’ why I was so angry in that moment was I had a call time to be at SUR for this Miami Girl to come in. I was not on the clock.” Kristen continued, “I was there as a patron, as a guest of the restaurant. Everyone knew – meaning production and Lisa [Vanderpump] – knew this girl was coming in to confront Tom Sandoval and it was going to get real messy.”
Did Kristen get set up?
Kristen explained that Tom, Ariana, nor the cast knew Miami Girl was coming, but “production” did. “They’re the ones who” arranged everything. “I didn’t give this girl a call time. Like, I didn’t fly her in. So, Lisa knows, and Natalie and Guillermo, the owners know. In that moment, shit’s going to hit the fan.”
“Did I tell my friend and my manager to ‘Suck a dick?’ I did.” She continued, “Did they tell me to say that? No, they didn’t. So, that’s essentially what they say got me fired. Knowing this was going to completely blow up in this restaurant that I’m still employed at was made me so angry.”
Kristen wonders, “Why didn’t we go somewhere else? Why didn’t we just go to another restaurant where?” She elaborated, “Those are the kinds of things I couldn’t control back then.” I felt like I was being manipulated into saying and doing things at certain times that I knew better. That got really frustrating.”
