The sequel to John Tucker Must Die is getting hit with the “Dorinda Pause.”
Arielle Kebbel revealed on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s podcast that the teased follow up to the iconic 2000s romcom has been shelved for now — despite the original cast being on board.
“So I started producing a few years ago. One of the first projects I ever sold was a sequel to John Tucker, which was very exciting, and the whole cast was back on board,” Arielle shared on the Feb. 19 episode.
“We worked with the studio for a while, and then we got a script in right before the writers’ strike.”
After the strike, the project was supposed to move full-steam ahead.
“Post–writers’ strike we were supposed to pick up and, like, full-force move forward into casting and ready to rock,” she continued.
“And their slate totally changed. That happens. That’s the game with studios and the film business. But it got shelved — which is not a permanent thing, but it is not currently active.”
Still, Arielle hasn’t given up hope.
“It’s on pause for now.”
ICYMI: John Tucker Must Die (2006) followed three girls who discover they’re all dating the same popular basketball star — and team up with new girl Kate to take him down.
