Emma Slater is setting the record straight on speculation that she may be sashaying away from the ballroom.
The Dancing With the Stars pro opened up about her future on the show while speaking on the Three Questions with Andy Richter podcast.
“Someone came up to me last week and was like, ‘Are the rumors true?’ and I was like, ‘What rumor?’ They said, ‘Are you retiring this year?’” Emma shared.
“I could see how a rumor like that would start, because they’re looking at me like, ‘She’s the old girl.’”
Emma made it clear she has no plans to leave anytime soon, saying she intends to stay on the show as long as production will have her.
However, when the time does come, she hopes the decision will be hers.
“I would like it to be my decision, I think. But I’ve decided that I’m going to expect to be there, and if and when they say I’m not invited anymore, I’ll conquer that when it happens,” she explained.
“I guess, in my mind, you put limitations on yourself saying, well, how many years do I have? I’m just going to keep going. Then take away that restriction until I don’t have what they’re looking for, and maybe I’ll stick around in some other form,” she continued.
Emma also teased she could see herself staying involved behind the scenes.
“The brand is doing so well, and I like to produce. So maybe I’ll be like, ‘Make me a producer!’”
ICYMI: Emma joined Dancing With the Stars in 2012 during Season 14 as a troupe dancer and was promoted to pro in Season 17.
Most recently, she was partnered with comedian Andy Richter, and the duo quickly became a fan-favorite pairing.
