Elizabeth Berkley spilled that her 2013 experience on Dancing With the Stars was focused more on drama than dance.
The Saved by the Bell alum competed on season 17 alongside Val Chmerkovskiy and said producers often tried to create drama instead of focusing on the dancing.
Commenting under season 5 contestant Jennie Garth’s Instagram post, Elizabeth praised DWTS season 35. She wrote, “The show has changed for the better since we did it- it is not about drama. It’s about goodness, joy, and the journey in a beautiful way now.”
Jennie said she was “loving” the current season of DWTS. “I haven’t watched Dancing with Stars since I stepped into the ballroom in 2007… but I’m mesmerized by this season! 💃.” The actress who played Kelly Taylor on all ten seasons of Beverly Hills 90210 was paired with Derek Hough.
During Elizabeth’s stint on DWTS, she earned consistently high scores and a highly praised run, finishing in 6th place. She famously reconnected with her Saved by the Bell roots by performing a Jive to “I’m So Excited” (referencing Jessie Spano’s iconic caffeine pill breakdown).
Val and Elizabeth performed a Cha-Cha routine to open up about the Hollywood backlash she experienced after starring in the misunderstood 1995 film, Showgirls.
As for Jennie, she partnered with Derek in his first year as a pro dancer. Jennie and Derek earned a perfect score of 30 for their fierce Cha-Cha-Cha during the competition.
Despite hitting that perfect score, she fell just short of the finals due to viewer votes and was eliminated during Week 9. Derek and Jennie placed fourth overall.
