Emmy Award-winning actor Dan Levy slammed comedian Shane Gillis‘s misogynistic (and massively unfunny) ‘Saturday Night Live‘ monologue.
ICYMI, Shane Gillis called women wh*res for wearing shorts to the gym during his monologue as host of Saturday Night Live. Dan didn’t mince words while criticizing the comedian for the unfunny quip.
The Schitt’s Creek creator, writer, and star took to his Instagram page to stand up for women. “Women wearing short shorts to the gym does not make them wh*res. It makes the men calling them wh*res misogynists. There’s a difference there.”
“By the way,” Dan continued, “I’ve seen more men’s nipples at the gym than I’ve ever seen women showing their bodies off. But I’m speechless that something like that can exist on live national television.”
Dan added, “To be perfectly honest, more men need to be standing up in opposition to it. It’s complacency that has created the environment in which women are sexually assaulted, and it’s a conversation as opposed to a crime. Men need to be defending women more. This is not a women’s issue. This is an everybody issue.”
“Because the more that men objectify women in the media, the more that other men see them as objects and treat them as objects,” he explained. “They are not objects. They are superior human beings to men. Okay, and I’m sorry if this gets me in trouble with the internet, but f*ck!”
Shane’s far-from-funny monologue continued to bomb as he joked about his balding hair giving him an “Adolf Hitler haircut.” Now, he struggles with looking like Hitler or appearing “gay.”
