Bravo TV fans/lawyers @TheBravoDocket broke down what happened on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City regarding Britani Bateman trademarking ‘High Body Count Hair,’ which was originally said by Angie Katsanevas.
Legal deets:
“Let’s talk trademarks,” began the online creators. “A trademark is all about who used something first in commerce as a brand identifier. It doesn’t matter who uttered it.”
They continued, “Britani trademarked (not patented) ‘Hight Body Count Hair.’ No one gets Trademark rights for saying it first.”
“It WOULD matter had Angie used it in commerce first as a brand. A trademark serves as a brand identifier and is usually trademarked by the person who wants to use it commercially.”
Several internet users pointed out that the phrase ‘High Body Count’ is linked to “red pill” internet communities. Public figures like Andrew Tate often use the phrase to discuss the number of a person’s sexual partners.
ICYMI:
During season 6, episode 14, Britani made an announcement … “I trademarked ‘High Body Count.”
Lisa Barlow asked, “You did? That’s not yours.” Britani, who gave Angie a look that could kill, boasted, “I stole it.” Angie asked, “Britani. Why would you do that?”
“I was the one who took it on the chin. That’s why,” explained Britani.
The Greek Goddess said it was “embarrassing” for Britani to take something someone else said, “and patent it.” She complained, “The person who does not have one witty line other than ‘Ting Ting Ting’ in her entire life, trademarks my line.”
Angie laughed that Britani sits in the sidecar of her gravy train.
