A Below Deck cameraman — nay hero– is currently in the hospital after suffering two strokes and a subdural hematoma.
During season 6 of Below Deck, deckhand Ashton Pienaar nearly lost his life when his ankle got caught in a tow line. Ashton went overboard and was seconds away from his foot being severed by the taut line and bleeding out to death.
However, cameraman Brent Freeburg immediately sprang into action and helped rescue Ashton.
Ashton took to his instagram to show support upon hearing the news.
“Some people leave an impact on your life that you can never repay. Brent is one of those people for me,” the former deckhand begins.
“I just heard that heโs suffered a stroke, and itโs a tough thing to process when someone whoโs given you so much is now facing their own battle. If you have a moment, please keep him in your thoughts. Wishing him strength, healing, and a full recovery. ๐”
Brett’s family has created a Gofundme to help cover continued care costs as Brett is uninsured. They also are sharing updates on his current situation.
We are sending all our well wishes over to Brett and his family!
