Ariana Madix has a note for future casting.
The Love Island USA host appeared on Cosmopolitan’s Blind Date, where she opened up about changes she’d like to see in the villa.
“Queer representation is just representation,” Ariana told Cosmo Editor-in-Chief Willa Bennett.
“Queer people are a part of life. I’m dying for more queer representation on the show.”
While it isn’t the norm, there have been a few same-sex couples on Love Island USA that Ariana pointed out.
During Season 5, bombshell Johnnie Garcia and returning Islander Kassy Castillo coupled up, becoming the first official same-sex pairing on Love Island USA.
In the Peacock spinoff Love Island Games, Season 1 original Islander Kyra Green coupled up with UK import Megan Barton-Hanson.
However, as Ariana also noted, there’s no rule preventing same-sex couples from coupling up on the show.
“No producer is like, ‘You can’t.’”
Viewers have long toyed with the idea of what a villa would look like if the Islanders were all bisexual, where everyone is a potential match.
As the show continues to evolve, so do audience expectations.
A villa where everyone is fair game is definitely a concept I’d be interested in watching!
