Don’t say they never gave us anything because a One Tree Hill reboot is in the works with Netflix.
The original TV teen drama ran for 9 seasons, and followed estranged half brothers Nathan and Lucas Scott as they navigated drama both on and off the basketball court.
Deadline reports that Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton Morgan, who play Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer respectively, will executive produce the series.
Danneel Ackles who played Rachel Gatina, is also an executive producer alongside her husband, Jensen Ackles.
The sequel is said to take place 20 years later following best friends Brooke and Peyton who are now parents to teens and facing challenges not unfamiliar to what they tackled in the original series like love, insecurities and grief, we understand.
One Tree Hill Drama
In 2017, the ladies of One Tree Hill penned a letter exposing show’s creator, Mark Schwann.
An excerpt of the letter reads:
“Many of us were put in uncomfortable positions and had to swiftly learn to fight back, sometimes physically, because it was made clear to us that the supervisors in the room were not the protectors they were supposed to be. Many of us were spoken to in ways that ran the spectrum from deeply upsetting, to traumatizing, to downright illegal. And a few of us were put in positions where we felt physically unsafe. More than one woman on our show had her career trajectory threatened.”
In an effort to reclaim the series prior to the news, Sophia, Hilaire, and Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley James Scott) launched a rewatch podcast.
“Drama Queens” features the cast and crew providing behind the scenes tea from the show.
Photos of me with some of the OTH Cast
Some of you who follow us on social media know how big of a fan of One Tree Hill I am. I joke the show saved my life, but it did. I began watching on Netflix back in 2013. Even though the show premiered in 2003 when I was just in third grade.
I started watching during a low time. I found comfort and safety within the people and the town it filmed in. One Tree Hill is unique because it films in Wilmington, NC. You can go to many of the filming locations featured across the 9 seasons.
(Tell me in the comments below if you want to see a round up of that).
TV is my life. It changed my life in many ways. Reality TV, OTH, you name it — I’m better for it.
For the fans of the show, I fully plan to continue following the story!
