DWTS pro Mark Ballas will join Whitney Leavitt in bringing the Dancing with the Stars ballroom to Broadway for a limited run in the hit musical, Chicago.
The season 34 semifinalists are reuniting on stage for a four-week limited engagement of the show, beginning Monday, April 6, and running through Sunday, May 3, according to PEOPLE.
Broadway bound (again):
Mark Ballas is slated to play the slick-talking lawyer Billy Flynn.
ICYMI, the three-time Mirrorball champion made his Broadway debut a decade ago as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys, which Mark played until its closing in January 2017. Mark made his way back to Broadway in 2018 for a run in Kinky Boots.
On the other hand, Whitney made her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago on Feb. 2. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives breakout star was originally scheduled to depart the production on March 15, but the show previously extended her run from March 23 through April 5 due to what it described as “an overwhelming demand.”
How they got here:
Mark and Whitney have a history with Chicago as they performed an Argentine Tango to Cell Block Tango during DWTS’s 34th season.
After his time in the ballroom, Mark went to Scotland to compete in the ultimate game of deception and murrrder to film Peacock’s whodunit, The Traitors US.
“After spending the last few months in the world of The Traitors, where everything is about lies, murder, and deception, stepping into Chicago feels like a pretty natural next move. I’m so excited to be returning to Broadway, this time as Billy Flynn.”
“It’s even more excited that I get to share the stage with Whitney, who’s already killing it as Roxie Hart. I’m excited to get this partnership back together and make DWTS history.”
FYI, Chicago is the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. This November will celebrate its 30th anniversary.
