Vanderpump Rules alum Stassi Schroeder is bringing reality back to reality TV with her new show, House of Stassi.
In an interview with PEOPLE at NBU-U upfronts, Stassi – who appeared on seasons two and three of Vanderpump Villa – told fans to expect something new from her upcoming series for Freeform and Hulu.
What to expect:
Stassi promised her new show is “like nothing anyone’s ever seen. We do a lot of breaking the fourth wall and acknowledging that we are filming a show and that we are on a show and that we came from a show.”
“It’s also nostalgic at the same time because you know I have Katie [Maloney] and Kristina [Kelly] from VPR on it. It truly is this raw, real show about where we are now.”
Unlike many modern day reality shows, Stassi and her cast are “not pretending” for the cameras. Having cameras up “doesn’t affect” the cast.
“We’re used to it. I think we’re so used to doing that for reality TV, like our whole adult life we grew up just bleeding out for reality television, that’s all we know how to do. We cut ourselves open for it.”
Stassi said that fans can also expect to see more “vulnerability” on House of Stassi. “We’re at a place where we have so much more to lose. So it’s not the same type of fights. No one’s throwing drinks at each other.”
“It’s way more real and nuanced and layered. The audience has grown up with us. I think the audience will understand that.”
House of Stassi premieres on July 29 on Freeform. The full season will be available to stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ the following day.
