Shekinah Garner is standing by her man, Sarper. The 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star even called out the “slut shaming” Sarper endured after admitting he slept with over 2,500 women. In an interview with TMZ, the Beverly Hills aesthetician stood up against the social injustice.
The body count:
“First of all, I think it’s terrible in this day in age to essentially be slut shaming people which is what that is – judging someone based on their body count. That’s so demeaning. It’s so wrong. He’s a grown man; he wasn’t doing anything wrong. Do I think that was a good choice or showed a lot of integrity? No. But, I love him and I trust him. I think that’s in his past.”
Trust issues:
“It’s definitely hard when I’m not in Turkey with him,” admitted Shekinah. “I do come back to LA a lot to see my daughter, so when I’m here, I do need constant reassurance. I check in with him all the time. ‘What are you doing? Where are you?’ I don’t want to feel that way, but at the same time, I do need that reassurance until we can build the trust. You can’t just trust someone overnight. They have to earn that.”
The fact that Sarper came clean about his sexual history was the assurance Shekinah needed to move forward with the relationship. “It says a lot about him that he can be open about that. He’s not shameful about it. He’s honest and forthcoming. The fact that he decided to share that with everyone, props to him for doing that. I don’t think it’s a good reason to make him feel bad for it. He’s an attractive man. He took advantage of the fact he could sleep with almost anyone.”
Living situation:
Shekinah put some differences between Los Angeles and Istanbul in perspective. In addition to being more traffic in Turkey, there are no rules on the road. “It’s so stressful.” Also, being a Muslim country, Shekinah described Istanbul as “very conservative.” She can’t dress the way she wants there because they “would think I’m a prostitute.”
When asked if she could see herself moving to Turkey full time, Shekinah answered, “No.”
