Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘s PK Kemsley detailed how he and Dorit Kemsley got involved in filming for Bravo and how he worries that his two kids will end up “victims” of reality TV.
PK was a guest on the Need To Talk podcast, and broke down how he helped Dorit get cast on RHOBH … and how his kids could be affected.
How PK got here:
“I had a very dear friend of mine who is a King of Industry in the music business,” began PK. “He said to me, ‘There are only three entry points in L.A. – Money, power, celebrity.'”
PK broke down the entry points … “Money.” PK needed to show off his UK riches “and then some.” He suggested he would “Build schools and do the charitable initiatives” he did in England. “Power in LA means you own a studio, own a bank, or are involved in government.”
Dorit’s estranged husband was told, “Your quickest entry point to live in LA is celebrity.” His friend said that PK would need to recreate what he did in England in the City of Angels. PK found out that they’re casting for RHOBH. “I had never seen the show, ever. All I knew was that Lisa Vanderpump – who was my friend – was on it.”
PK told Dorit, who had just had Phoenix, “Why don’t you go to casting?” Dorit took his advice, but didn’t think she performed well. Weeks later, “they came back and wanted to film at our home.”
The businessman joked he “knows how to close a deal.” So, he got to work. PK filled the house with flowers and hosted their most “eclectic group” of friends when cameras were present. “She got the gig.”
“That show was fun until it wasn’t,” divulged PK. “I was blind to what was going on. I didn’t act soon enough. The rest, unfortunately, is history. I will maintain I have absolute accountability for going down that avenue.”
Dorit’s ‘truth’ isn’t consistent with reality, as per PK:
“Dorit’s got her own perspective. She’s the mother of my kids. What she chooses to do and say about me is entirely up to her. Her versions, her perspectives, her truths are her truth – that doesn’t mean it is THE truth.”
“I don’t want that period of my life to define me.”
“The truth is, a lot of it goes to editing. They create scenarios that didn’t happen. There are victims. I’m not calling myself a victim – I’m out of it.”
“I don’t want our kids to be victims of those situations. I will not add fuel – I’m trying to contain a fire.” PK concluded, “I don’t want our kids to be victims of those decisions.”
