One Tree Hill is still making news over twenty years later!
Tyler Hilton, who played Chris Keller in the hit show, spilled some tea at his recent concert. The singer-songwriter revealed he almost dated his OTH costar Bethany Joy Lenz, the actress who played Haley James Scott.
“Our characters weren’t supposed to be hanging together on the show,” he says at his Portland show on November 18.
“I started writing with her and hanging with her and we really fell for each other. We started to catch feelings for real. We were hanging out all the time and the producers were like ‘oh we should write this into the show’.”
“I’m only saying this now because she writes about it in her book.”

Bethany Joy Lenz recently released her first memoir, Dinner For Vampires, where she details her experience entering and exiting a religious cult.
The high-control group literally controlled every aspect of her life during the time she starred on One Tree Hill — to include her love life.
“I started to get the vibe that she was in a cult,” Tyler joked during his show.
Tyler detailed that if he and Joy’s relationship were to continue, he would need to be vetted from the organization.
Ironically enough, the duo toured in Portland and Joy invited members from the organization to attend the show to “sus him out.” The powers that be ended up denying the couple’s off-screen romance.
“Chris Keller” went on to write about the experience. “You’ll Ask For Me” became one of Tyler’s more popular songs from his discography and the One Tree Hill soundtrack.
Thankfully for Tyler Hilton, his life turned out just fine.
The singer is now married to actress Megan Park. Megan also starred on a hit teen show, The Secret Life of the American Teenager which aired from 2008-2013.
The couple got married in 2015, and have two children together.
