Big Brother host Julie Chen Moonves teased another big season of CBS’s hit show, but reminded viewers not to believe every rumor they hear about what’s to come on season 28.
The series host spoke with Entertainment Weekly, about the online chatter regarding the upcoming season. “It’s a big production, and people talk and yada yada.”
“Some of what you’re speculating might be right.” Julie continued, “Some of the stuff online might be accurate. Some of it is dead wrong.”
“I can say that if you love Big Brother and you’re a decent fan, it’s gonna register a big reaction. Definitely big,” she told EW‘s Dalton Ross. “I think some people are gonna be very excited and happy, and I think some people are gonna be like, ‘Oh, boy.'”
“I will say that if you are a lover of the top reality shows out there, then I think you’re gonna be very happy. Very, very happy.” Fans can also expect some “controversial people” involved. Julie previously teased. “I think a lot of people will be like, ‘Yes.’ And I think some people are like, ‘What?’ But it’s good TV,” she said. “And if you love reality television beyond Big Brother, you’ll be excited as well.”
Season 28 of Big Brother will feature its 1,000th episode on CBS. The season will include a special “time trip” theme, with time-bending elements that will guide the game. As for this season’s twist, the time travel element “could go forwards or backwards, and that will play into some of the competitions.”
“Does that mean we’re going to bring back some competition you haven’t seen since season 3, 2, 4, 5? I sure hope so,” she said. “And then maybe we’ll do the new twist, which is you loved that competition in season 4, but then you have to be like, I don’t know, surrounded by dinosaurs. Who knows? And controversial people will be factored in.”
Big Brother returns with a 90‑minute premiere at 8 p.m. EST/ 5 p.m. PST on Thursday, July 9
