Hannah Berner appeared on the July 10 episode of the BFFs podcast. The former Summer House star shared her thoughts on not returning to the franchise and how it led to her Netflix Comedy Special, We Ride at Dawn.
“I think getting fired from Summer House, made me want to get a Netflix special,” Hannah said to BFFs host Dave Portnoy.
On May 14, 2021, Hannah announced she wasn’t returning to Summer House for its sixth season.

“This past year has been one of the most important in my life for self reflection, love, and learning a lot of shit,” the comedian began.
“I’ve welcomed new career ventures, challenges and obstacles, and opportunities for growth. As we climb out of the emotional trenches of 2020, I look forward to an exciting summer, but with mixed emotions I’m announcing I won’t be spending it living in the summer house.
“These last three summers have truly been a whirlwind and the show has, without a doubt, changed my life and I will forever be thankful for the platform it has provided me.”

“The truth is beef started because I did an ad for Truly Seltzer and I didn’t know that I wasn’t allowed to.”
For context, Loverboy is the official, unofficial drink of Summer House.
The canned cocktails are featured in almost every episode. It’s new flavor, Limoncello inspired an entire themed party this past season.
“I was on a talk show at the time, I was on Summer House, and I got fired.”
“In that moment, you have nothing.”
However, the Network didn’t fire her. Rather “the egos” that snowballed out of control.
Hannah used the extra time to pour into her comedy and perfecting her craft.
“Reality tv shows, they want to laugh at you, and that’s fine I’ll be the joke,” Hannah said. “I think I’m better at making people laugh on purpose.”
And that she did.
Hannah’s TikTok following skyrocketed with her “street” interviews. This led to interviewing major celebs like Jennifer Lawrence, Hailey Bieber, and Kacey Musgraves.
“I do think revenge and pissing people off is definitely a huge motivator in my life and I highly recommend it if you’re feeling pissed at someone. Just focus it on yourself.”
