Ciara Miller has one more thing to say following the conclusion of the three-part Summer House reunion.
The Summer House star took to Threads to provide some insight into how beta blockers actually work, noting that they do not turn off your emotions.
“Just a medical note: beta blockers DON’T remove emotion,” Ciara wrote on June 9.
Beta blockers work by preventing adrenaline from binding to beta receptors in your heart, blood vessels, and muscles — the receptors responsible for physical symptoms of anxiety like an increased heart rate, elevated blood pressure, and trembling.
Simply put, your emotions remain intact, but the body’s “fight or flight” response is put on pause.
“It’s like putting your fight-or-flight symptoms on DND,” Ciara continued.
“Enough with the beta blocker bullsh-t.”
Ciara also issued a follow-up post, adding:
“Also, anxiety and depression aren’t the only things in the DSM-5. Personality disorders exist there as well.”
ICYMI: Based on the zombie-like, void-like energy Amanda Batula and West Wilson gave during the reunion, viewers questioned whether the duo were under the influence of more than just a CBD gummy.
Andy Cohen even asked West if beta blockers were behind his seemingly emotionless demeanor while his close friend Jesse Solomon was visibly shaken.
West admitted he had taken them, which prompted Ciara to clarify the medication’s actual effects.
