HGTV superstar Christina Hall was relieved not to have to film the whole season of The Flip Off with her ’emasculated’ estranged husband, Josh Hall. “We only filmed together a few times.”
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Christina dished on filming the spinoff to Flip or Flop with her ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, and his new wife, former Selling Sunset star, Heather Rae El Moussa.
ICYMI, The Flip Off was slated to have The El Moussa’s face off against The Halls. But, Christina and her now-estranged husband, Josh Hall, filed for divorce before filming wrapped.
Josh was holding Christina back:
The 41-year-old real estate entrepreneur explained how she felt a need to make herself smaller to so Josh felt more like a man.
“When someone is insecure by you and doesn’t like to watch you win, that really puts a damper on everything. I feel like I was not shining as bright, to try to not make him feel emasculated. But who wants to live like that,” asked Christina.
“It was not fun, to be honest. I did not enjoy filming with him, so having split up made this, to be honest, so much easier and so much better in every way.”
She added, it “would have been hard to film” the whole season with Josh.
The Tarek factor:
According to Christina, Josh dealt with “jealousy” over her filming with her ex-husband … despite his new wife starring in the show as well.
Josh “doesn’t like our dynamic, because Tarek and I have our own dynamic. Some could call it ‘flirty,’ For me, it’s like a sibling type of thing.”
Christina continues to confide in two of her sons’ father. The Hall’s breakup “wasn’t news” to Tarek. She’d been “telling him that things were bad for at least a year. Probably 18 months.”
Heather entered the chat:
“I don’t mean to be mean, but it was kind of nice to see him go.”
