Real Housewives of New York alum Bethenny Frankel took issue with Rachel Zoe having an open conversation with her sons about her divorce while filming RHOBH.
Bethenny took to her TikTok page to deem the scene “f*cked up.”
The price of (reality TV) fame:
“There is a scene from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills with Rachel Zoe and her children that I just saw,” began B.
“It so crystallizes the potential damage that reality television can do and the price that you pay and the selling of your soul to the devil that it was so jarring,” she explained.
Bethenny said it was hard “watching Rachel and her kids in a scene that was certainly provoked by producers. ‘Talk to your kids about what it feels like to be going through this divorce.’”
“That was the price and the cost of being on the show. It wasn’t great. [These are] children that are not fully formed human beings, adolescents, teens, that a parent is saying, ‘How does it feel?’”
“Having that discussion which is — why at an age and a stage? Unless you must do this for the paycheck or the fame or the promotion to some business, the price is great. The price of having to put your children on television and ask them about a divorce is so gargantuan and made me actually uncomfortable.”
This isn’t a dig at RZ, but the genre, as per Bethenny. The entrepreneur clarified that her opinion about the scene was “not a slight or a dig at anyone.” But since she knows how reality TV works, she said the genre is “f*cked up. It made me deeply uncomfortable.”
