During an episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen and The Traitors US‘s Alan Cumming confessed they have this hosting habit in common.
Both Andy and Alan avowed they tend to “oversell” scenes from their respective shows.
Are they the drama?
The topic came up when Andy praised the Scottish actor for his role in The Black Banquet scene on Season 4, Episode 7 of The Traitors US. “I gotta tell you something. That banquet was so exciting to watch.”
For the first time, The Traitors had to use a poisoned brooch to murder one of the Faithfuls in plain sight. Before it was announced that Yam Yam was killed by Lisa Rinna, Alan offered two antidotes to the players in the style of a Shakespearean soliloquy. Andy gushed, “You storming in there, in that cape, and then grabbing Yam Yam [Arocho]. You were a psycho!”
During Andy’s late night show, Alan explained, “They were all just spiraling. Imagine, there are 15 of them left just completely spiraling in front of you.”
“When you do a show like this, you do all the press for it and you’re hardly able to say anything about it because it’s a surprise. I said, ‘In Episode 7, it’s the best-ever episode. It’s this banquet.’ So last week when it came on, I thought, ‘Oh, I hope I haven’t oversold it.’”
Andy overhypes Real Housewives reunions and episodes before they’ve gone to air, so he was able to empathize with Alan. “This is the story of my life. I am constantly overselling Housewives, and then the fans all turn on me.”
“Damned if you do, damned if you don’t,” concluded Andy.
Andy finally admits he “oversells” Housewives episodes!! 😩😂 #WWHL pic.twitter.com/L3Ps8EAL2d
