Real Housewives of Potomac‘s Wendy Osefo has been replaced by an Associate Professor of Sociology at Wesleyan University.
Dr. Wendy, who was teaching a class this semester, The Sociology of Reality TV: Race, Colorism, and Xenophobia, was recently booked on felony fraud charges and released on $50k bail.
The RHOP star was on campus teaching on Wednesday, October 8, the day before her arrest.
Students reacted to Dr. Wendy’s arrest:
The campus’s newsletter, Wesleyan Argus, published interviews with Wendy’s students.
Barry Zheng told campus journalist Spencer Landers, “I was literally writing her an email that morning I found out, asking her about an assignment that was supposed to be due this week.”
“I just finished grabbing lunch at Usdan, and I ran into one of my classmates, and he was just like, ‘Yo, did you see the news? I was like, ‘What news?’ and he said, ‘Our professor got arrested.’ I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ because I just met her last week. And then he showed me an Instagram post saying she and her husband got arrested for fraud. I couldn’t believe it.”
“I just felt like she was pretty cool,” Barry recalled. “She would crack jokes and stuff.”
The class’s teaching assistant, Mariah Wilson, expressed similar thoughts to Spencer Landers. “It was a shock. Having taken her class last fall, I didn’t expect it.”
“I hope she’s well, and we’ll find out more once more news comes out.”
Wendy was removed from her classroom and Bravo’s Wife Swap …
ICYMI, Wendy’s episode of Bravo’s Wife Swap: Real Housewives Edition has been pulled amid her arrest. The network has pushed the series premiere of Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition to Oct. 21 (originally slated for Oct. 14).
Each episode showcases a “swap” between a Real Housewives cast member and an ordinary civilian.
Wendy and Eddie’s episode was meant to open the series.
Now, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Angie Katsanevas will headline the premiere instead, while the Osefos’ episode has been delayed indefinitely.
