Rylee Arnold‘s boyfriend, Walker Lyons, is defending her after she received a low score during Dancing With the Stars‘ Super Bowl Night.
The 21-year-old pro dancer and partner Connor Wood earned a score of just 25/40 after performing their Halftime show-inspired samba to Shakira‘s hit song, “Hips Don’t Lie.”
Rylee and Connor were visibly disappointed after learning their score and hearing the harsh feedback. Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough all gave her 3’s while guest judge, Joe Buck, gave Connor and Rylee a 7, with a final score of 25/40.
Bruno commented on Connor’s costume reveal and technical skills. “Sorry, I can’t get over those pants. The connection, the relation with Rylee is great, but [the pants] really hide a multitude of sins. You really didn’t have the correct hip foot action for the samba. You’ve really got it sorted moving forward. There is work to do.”
Carrie Ann said she knows Connor is still “learning,” as he has no prior dance experience. Still, she added, “This wasn’t your best.” Derek told the pair they need to “keep working” on their technique.
NFL star Walker Lyons took to Instagram to defend Rylee and Connor. “Robbery 👎,” he commented on a photo of his girlfriend and her partner posted by DWTS’ official social media account.
He added a second comment to the post. “It’s all fun and games until it’s time to give critique to Rylee, I guess 🤔🤷.”
Dancing with the Stars‘ Dedication Night airs Tuesday on ABC and Disney+.
