The OG of The OC, Vicki Gunvalson, told her My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast listeners why “liberal” Heather Dubrow doesn’t fit in such a “Republican” county.
Heather is more BH than OC, according to Vicki:
“I’m friendly with [Heather],” explained the Coto Insurance Founder & CEO.
“She does not fit into Orange County. She’s very liberal. Orange County is a Republican conservative county.”
“I speak to the women in Orange County. We know who our friends are with.”
Vicki was asked what happens when politics comes up in social situations. “We typically don’t talk about it.”
“It’s very clear, and Kelly Dodd is very clear on speaking about it outwardly. I don’t say, but it’s very clear where Heather and Terry are coming from.”
Vicki continued, “From a production standpoint, I’ve said this too, it is very weird to watch her film and then completely break the fourth wall. They don’t even pretend. She just goes to Orange County to film with them.”
The bottom line:
“Well, the other thing is, is that it’s, like I think a lot of people watch Housewives because of the extravagance of the lives.”
It’s no secret that Heather and Dr. Terry are riiiiiich rich. “So, watching people resent someone who’s much wealthier than they are, that’s not a fun storyline, I don’t think. And it’s a weird undertone.”
“I don’t resent anything that they have built and have inherited and all that. I don’t resent it. It just, she just doesn’t fit in.”
“It’s obvious because that first season or second season when she came back, they certainly made her feel like you are not one of us, which is so bizarre because we’re watching this show because we want to see these extravagant ways of life.”
“House values are $1M – $5M in Orange County. Hers is like $50M. It’s hard to break bread with that.”
“I don’t think she understands or appreciates the $1M – $5M homes. Right or wrong, I still think it’s great because I’m from Illinois, and so having a million-dollar home there, it’s like a mansion.”
“So I think Heather needs to go on Beverly Hills. Or pause her,” Vicki and co-host, Christian Gray Snow concluded.
