Russell Simmons is pushing back against recent comments made by his ex-wife, Kimora Lee Simmons.
Earlier this week, Kimora told People that she no longer maintains relationships with any of the fathers of her children—including actor Djimon Hounsou, former investment banker Tim Leissner, and Russell, the father of her two oldest daughters.
For context, Kimora was just 16 years old when she met music mogul Russell Simmons in November 1991.
She was still in high school at the time. The two later married in 1998 and divorced in 2008.
Russell took to Threads on December 13 to share his side of the story—despite no one publicly asking.
“I gave u 50,000 a month for 20 years. I was ur best/only friend,” Russell wrote.
“I’m the godfather to your other three kids, until one day you stole my stock. I have been fighting for my kids’ love and my bread ever since. You threatened that if I sued you, I would never speak to my kids again. There are two sides to every story.”
ICYMI: Russell Simmons stepped down from his businesses in 2017 following sexual assault and harassment allegations made by more than 20 women.
Since then, he has relocated to Bali, Indonesia, and continues to face legal scrutiny—including lawsuits over unpaid settlements and a new rape accusation in 2024.
While rumors persist that Russell moved to Indonesia because it does not have an extradition treaty with the U.S., he has denied those claims.
