Dancing with the Stars welcomes Robert Irwin to the ballroom as the first celebrity competitor announced for the show’s 34th season.
Robert Irwin’s DWTS announcement:
At Disney Entertainment Television’s Get Real Event, a second of Steve Irwin’s children announced they will compete on DWTS. With a snake around his neck, Robert – who also works with wildlife – confessed, “What a privilege [and] honor it is to be joining this season.”
The iconic zookeeper and conservationist’s son recalled how his sisterย Bindi Irwin, competed (and won) DWTS and how she inspired him to do the show. “I said, ‘One day, that’s gonna be me.’ And now, that dream is a reality. I am over the moon. Let’s do this!” he told the crowd.
The Irwin Family Legacy:
Robert and Bindi continue to carry on Steve Irwin’s legacy. Like his father,ย Steve Irwin, who wasย killed by a stingray at age 44, Robert, 21, is also a conservationist and zookeeper. Steve and hisย wife, Terri Irwin,ย owned the Australia Zoo, where Robert and Bindi now work.
The Irwin family have dedicated their lives to carrying out Steveโs legacy. They “starred together in the Animal Planet seriesย Crikey! Itโs the Irwins. In September 2024, Robert wasย named a global ambassadorย forย Prince Williamโs Earshot Prize, an initiative that seeks solutions to environmental challenges,” according to People.
