Riley Burruss is reacting to the comments surrounding her decision to get cosmetic work done.
The Next Gen NYC star appeared on her mother Kandi Burruss’ podcast, Speak On It, and that’s exactly what she did.
“People always bring up my nose. That was, like, five years ago,” Riley began on the Sept. 20 episode.
The reality star admitted she agrees with some of the commentary to an extent.
“Yes, I get it. Sometimes you have to grow into your features. Probably shouldn’t have gotten it done that young.”
Kandi revealed that she and her daughter actually discussed the idea of Riley getting a nose job while filming The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
However, production ultimately cut the scene out, with Kandi explaining that there was an effort at the time to keep “kids off limits.”
“In that situation, they chose not to show that we discussed it,” Kandi reflected, noting that the decision likely protected Riley from potential backlash.
The mother-daughter duo also addressed comments criticizing Kandi for “letting” her then-19-year-old daughter go under the knife.
At the end of the day, the RHOA alum knew her “Leo daughter” would ultimately get the procedure whether she supported the decision or not.
Since Riley elected to have the surgery before heading off to college, Kandi thought that if she was going to do it, having it done before such a major life transition made the most sense.
“They would never even know that she changed it,” Kandi continued, “because a lot of them didn’t watch [RHOA].”
Ultimately, Riley said she had grown “tired of contouring” her nose with makeup and felt insecure about it being too large for her face.
“My body, my choice,” she said.
