Rihanna and her family are safe after several shots were fired at the Grammy-Award winning singer’s Los Angeles home.
The shooter, Lisette Ortiz, was booked for attempted murder. Her bail was listed in jail records at over $10 million.
The scene of the crime:
On March 8, LAPD officers responded to a call of shots fired on the 9500 block of Heather Road at around 1:15 p.m.
They said that between 5 and 7 shots were fired, that those shots hit the gate to the house but not the house itself. There were no injuries, although there were people, including Rihanna, in the house.
The suspect fled south on Coldwater Canyon Drive in a white Tesla.
After speaking with the reporting party, the police received information about the suspect who shot at Rihanna’s home.
Neighbor Isabel Thorne said she was washing dishes when she heard the gunfire erupt outside. She said officers arrived within ten minutes.
The arrest:
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s inmate records, Ortiz was arrested at 2:20 p.m. Sunday and was booked at 2:06 a.m. on Monday.
LAPD Det. Aguilar told KTLA 5 that the high bail amount is due to several factors. They consider the attempted murder booking, the number of occupants in the home at the time of the shooting, and the weapon used. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office will likely formally announce the charges on March 10.
Police reported that a weapon was recovered during the arrest.
