Rebecca Minkoff has joined the club of one and done Bravo Housewives, allegedly.
A source revealed exclusively to OK! Magazine that the famous purse designer would not return for season 16 of the Real Housewives of New York.
The source cited Rebecca’s boot for “being relatively boring.”
In my opinion, Rebecca had all the makings of a successful housewife — name recognition, wealth, and being a Jewish Scientologist. In theory, Becky should have been a treasure trove of storyline and intrigue.
However, she fell victim to the new age Housewife curse.
Even before the season began, reports circulated that Rebecca attempted to curate drama with her fashion counterpart, Jenna Lyons. Jenna refused to play into a fake storyline. Allegedly this resulted in Rebecca getting demoted to “friend of” because of audience feedback.
Then when the season aired, she was the point person for the worst prank heard ’round the world.
The RHONY trailer teased this huge pregnancy bombshell and it ended up being a nothing burger.
I won’t be surprised if Bravo decides to not ask back the contrived Rebecca Minkoff.
Going forward, RHONY has to work overtime to fix the damage season 15 caused.
No more outwardly fake storylines. No more self producing (that’s obvious to the eye.)
We need “authenticity” or RHONY will be like their less glamorous sister RHONJ. And not even Nordstrom Rack would be interested in that.
Also of note — Rebecca is the only Real Housewives of New York cast member who hasn’t appeared on Watch What Happens Live. Which is also pretty telling…
