After 15 years, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice insists she didn’t throw Melissa Gorga‘s Sprinkle cookies in the trash.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Teresa explained that the cookie incident was not intended to insult her sister-in-law. In fact, Teresa claims Joe Giudice’s mom, Filomena Giudice, was the person responsible for tossing the cookies.
“It was not coming from a bad place at all,” Teresa explained. “Like, the whole sprinkle cookie thing. Like, I did not do that. Let’s get the record straight. It wasn’t me that threw out the sprinkle cookies.”
As seen on RHONJ, the drama began when Melissa brought store-bought sprinkle cookies to a family Christmas gathering. Teresa recalled that Filomena was making fun of Melissa, prompting her to offer what she considered helpful advice about Italian bakery etiquette.
“You know, next time you go to an Italian person’s house, don’t buy cookies from Corrado’s in a plastic container. Go to the bakery and buy pignoli cookies,” Teresa recalled telling Melissa quietly.
Teresa maintained that her intentions were good, explaining that she wanted a close relationship with Melissa and hoped to have a sister. “I have the best heart ever.”
The mother of four dorters insisted that Melissa took the comments as an insult and posted about the incident on Facebook. Teresa also suggested that the story took on a life of its own after she repeated it on the show.
Although Teresa said her former MIL was the person to toss the cookies, viewers heard Teresa tell her castmates, “I threw them in the garbage. You know what my favorite cookies are? Pignoli cookies.”
RHONJ returns for season 15 in December.
