Kaylor Martinย addressed the unkind comment fans heard aboutย Leah Katebย in the background of Aaron Evans‘s live social media feed.ย During an episode of theย The Viall Files, the emotional Love Island USAย personality explained the comment that “no one will care about Leah in six months.”
Context of the call:
Kaylor explained she was using speakerphone on a FaceTime call, and it was her friend from home that made the comment about Leah. “I was talking about all the hate that I’ve been experiencing online.” She admitted the backlash she received came “from specific comments made in the villa [that I made].”
The best friend of the Love Island star was trying to reassure her that the drama would boil over, and that’s why she said no one would care about Leah in the future. “As a friend, she was trying to be there for me.”
According to Kaylor, Leah made a comment “in the villa that blew up online.” The podcast host asked what the comment was. Kaylor responded, “It was just the white woman scared” comment during movie night.ย That’s when she claimed the backlash got bad. “You’re a white woman that’s privileged and stuff like that” is what she heard from fans.
“To my best friend, I was opening up to her about that. ‘They’re coming for me about this.’ She was saying, ‘No one’s going to care about Leah in six months because that comment came from Leah in the villa.'”
Kaylor low-key threw her best friend from home under the bus. “I think she was saying that to cheer me up. I don’t think that’s the best way to go about things. She could’ve given me her opinion in a way more positive light. I don’t think that’s the best way to go about things. Being there for someone isn’t necessarily putting someone else down.”
Leah and Kaylor’s friendship status:
Before Leah, Kaylor, and Aaron left Fiji, Kaylor admitted her snafu to her friend. She explained to Leah including why the conversation happened in the first place. Leah “was so understanding. That’s what I love about Leah. Instead of being like, ‘Fuck you. I don’t understand, she was like, Kaylor. Please don’t worry about it. I understand.'”
