Ahead of part one of the In the City reunion, Lindsay Hubbard gave fans more context about her emotional state while filming.
The In the City star shared a five-slide Instagram statement opening up about navigating new motherhood and the emotional toll it took.
“I spent 6 months going into confessionals where I was asked about my 1st year of motherhood,” Lindsay began.
“I cried every time. Just ask my editors. I think even they were shook by it.”
While filming the first season, Lindsay was going through a breakup with the father of her daughter, Turner Kufe.
She was also “breastfeeding, adjusting to new co-parenting schedules/routines, attending countless lawyer meetings and calls, and working through mediation and custody,” which she described as “emotional, intense and exhausting.”
After filming Summer House, she, Kyle Cooke, and Amanda Batula went straight into filming In the City.
“Anyone on TV knows how intense that truly is,” Hubbs said.
Lindsay has also been vocal about her estrangement from her mother and the fact that both of her parents live in Florida, making the lack of nearby family support even more emotionally taxing.
“Anyone who knows me knows I’m not just sitting around while my nanny is taking care of my child. I am a WORKING mom, and I am blessed to ‘work from home’ so I can be with her as much as I can all throughout the weekdays, while also being the sole provider of my household.”
The Reunion
The reunion teaser also shows Lindsay and Whitney Fransway revisiting the “mom card” comment that ruffled both Lindsay and Georgina’s feathers during the Friendsgiving trip to Connecticut.
Gemma’s mom claimed she cried for six months because of Whitney’s remark, which was met with proverbial eye rolls from some of her castmates.
Lindsay’s statement continued:
“While I was on that trip getting criticized for being a mom, my daughter walked across the room for the first time — which I missed.”
When Whitney made the infamous “mom card” comment, Gemma was just 10 months old, and Lindsay was still in the thick of postpartum.
Lindsay concluded her statement by acknowledging that no matter what kind of mom you are, you still deserve grace.
“Please give moms grace. And when I say I cried — a girl who doesn’t typically admit to being that vulnerable — maybe take a minute to understand there’s more beneath the surface.”
The In The City reunion concludes next Tuesday, July 28.
