Former Vanderpump Rules star Lala Kent told Tom Schwartz how she made amends with his ex-wife, Katie Maloney, on her podcast, Untraditionally Lala.
Lala owned her actions without expectations from Katie:
Schwartz said ‘Hi’ to Katie, in case she was listening. Lala told him, “She ain’t gonna hear this.” Confused, Tom mentioned he thought Katie and Lala had reconciled.
“I think you’re referring to something I did after a year plus of sitting on it.” Lala continued, “I did reach out [to Katie]. I almost feel bad talking about this because I don’t want her to think there was a reason behind why I sent it.”
“But, with the changes I want to make in my life and take ownership, I felt it was necessary [Katie] knew I was sorry for the way things went down. I didn’t expect a text back.”
“When you’re making amends with anybody, you have to be ok if they aren’t receptive [or] they don’t respond,” explained the mother of two. “If you’re going in looking for that, you haven’t fully taken accountability for your part, and you’re looking for something selfishly to make you feel like your actions were ok.”
In case you need a reminder of where Lala and Katie left off …
During an episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast in early 2025, Lala explained what soured between her and Katie.
She “was my everything,” began Lala. But, “Neither of us has reached out to the other since the reunion.”
“Katie and I have two very different viewpoints on what happened in the demise of our friendship. She sees it one way,” explained Lala. “I don’t like that I was painted as a person who pockets information and brings it out at a convenient time. That’s not what happened.”
“We can go over this the whole live-long day, [but] it doesn’t matter. What’s done is done,” declared Lala. We may be able to rebuild at some point. Or, we may never see each other again. Who the f*ck knows? But, I do want her to be happy in her life. She deserves that.”
