Bachelor Nation‘s Katie Thurston, who is battling stage 4 cancer, was emotional after seeing fake news that she had died and dealt with it the only way she knew how … with humor.
The rumor that the season 17 Bachelorette passed found its way to her friends and family on Facebook, upsetting Katie tremendously, obviously.
The Fake News, icymi:
Katie vented, “I wanted to take time away from social media, but then I was getting texts from people I don’t normally hear from.”
“Then, I got DMs from people, and everyone’s like, ‘Are you OK?’”
Katie added, “I’ve seen this article go around before, but something about tonight really f*cking pisses me off. It’s triggering, and I try to report it. There’s just nothing I can do, and I just feel helpless. I’m just so mad right now. Like, if anyone works at Facebook [or] has any suggestion on what I can do, please tell me.”
In another post, Katie reiterated, “[I’m] still here. FB is just constant clickbait.” “Please report these people. They suck!! This is so triggering.”
Katie laughed off her sadness:
Using an angel filter, Katie greeted her followers with ‘Good Mourning’ from Heaven and gave a shout-out to Fake News Facebook for upsetting her friends and family.
From “the other side,” Katie warned others about the predatory funeral business. “There is an increased markup on the things that you need for your not-so-special occasion.”
Katie promoted Titan Casket, which sells directly to consumers, cutting out the middleman.
