Karen Huger from the Real Housewives of Potomac was found GUILTY on nearly all counts after being charged with a DUI in March.
Court adjourned:
The ‘Grande Dame’s legal team were โdisappointed in the juryโs verdict.” However, Karen’s attorney clarified to People, “We of course respect their decision and appreciate their time hearing our case.”
“We continue to reserve Mrs. Hugerโs right to an appeal and intend to fully pursue justice on her behalf. We appreciate your support and prayers for Mrs. Huger and her family at this time.โ
The reality star is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 29th, 2025.
The charges:
After the March 19 incident, Huger, 61, wasย chargedย with a DUI and DWI, negligently driving a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner endangering property, life, and person, as well as recklessly driving a vehicle in wanton and willful disregard for the safety of persons and property.
Other charges include failure to control vehicle speed on the highway to avoid a collision, driving a vehicle in excess of reasonable and prudent speed on the highway, driving a vehicle on the highway with suspended registration, and failure to notify administration of change of address within 30 days.
She was found guilty on all charges except reckless driving.
At the time, the Montgomery County Police Departmentย confirmedย that Huger had been involved inย a single-vehicle collisionย in Potomac. Law enforcement said the television personality crossed a median and struck multiple street signs but was not injured at the time of the crash.
At the time of the incident, she was not arrested, however, she received several citations.
The scene of the crime:
โJust before midnight on March 19, 2024, authorities said Huger crashed her car near Oaklyn Drive in Potomac. A man who witnessed the wreckage testified in court Tuesday that the car smelled like alcohol. Other witnesses who testified in court Tuesday included a volunteer EMT who responded that night, along with two police officers.โ
An EMT told the jury, that โHuger refused treatment on the scene and โswayedโ as she tried to get into the ambulance. Once inside the ambulance, she testified Huger used profanity towards the first responders.โ
The EMT testified, that Huger told them to โf*ck offโ and โgo f*ck yourselvesโ on more than one occasion. However, she would also compliment a female firefighter a few minutes later. โYouโre so pretty, and youโre so beautiful.โ
The body cam footage:
In court Tuesday, the arresting officerโs body camera footage was also shown to the jury.ย He is heard on camera telling Karen she was โhammered,โ as she appeared to slur her speech in the cruiser. โThis is bullsh*t,โ Huger is heard saying. โI hate you, you know that?โ
