Savannah Bananas‘ Jackson Olson faces backlash after posting, and later deleting, a comment about Guillermo Rodriguez‘s Week 4 Dancing with the Stars performance.
Jackson’s fellow league mate, Erik Ostberg, posted a video recreating Guillermo and Witney Carson’s Week 3 DWTS routine to “Escape (The Piña Colada Song).”
Jackson commented, “3,” which fans interpreted as a low score out of 10. He followed up with, “But seriously, how did you do this better than him with 2 hours of rehearsal😂.”
The People showed up for the Late Night sidekick in the comment section. Consensus was that Guillermo got belittled in Jackson’s effort to hype up Erik.
Ultimately, Jackson deleted the comments. Of course, social media users had already captured screenshots and shared them online.
The incident has sparked criticism from fans who felt Jackson crossed the line. “So we’re voting him out, right?” asked a TikTok user. Another shared their disappointment about Jackson’s “rude comment about Guillermo.”
In case you missed Guillermo and Witney’s performance …
Despite Guillermo’s lower scores, fans have texted his name to 21523, keeping him in the competition.
Jackson’s TikTok appeal hasn’t translated to TV for many. He and his professional partner, Emma Slater, even ended up in the bottom three on Yacht Rock Night.
We’ll have to stay tuned to Week 5, Mariah Carey Night, to see where Guillermo and Jackson land on the leaderboard and find out whose fan bases show up to vote. ICYMI, Guillermo and Witney are performing a Samba to Obsessed. Jackson and Emma are doing a Waltz to Without You.
