Garcelle Beauvais‘s home life will be more private moving forward on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to keep her son, Jax, out of the public eye.
The now-16-year-old became more than a Real Housewife kid when Erika Jayne drunkenly berated him when he was only 14. Then, he endured online bullying as a result of his role on the show.
Cyberbullies:
During an episode of the Pop Culture Moms podcast, the RHOBH beauty detailed a conversation she had with her 16-year-old son, Jax, after he was trolled online. Just ahead of filming season 14, “Jax said to me, ‘Mom, I can’t do it anymore. It was too negative for me.”
“I respected that. So he’s not on this season at all. Actually, I haven’t said it to many people, so you’re the first really hearing it.”
Fans agreed with Garcelle and defended Jax. “People kill me with hiding behind a keyboard to spew racism and foolishness. If social media weren’t around none of these people would dare to say some of the mean things they say on social to someone’s face!”
The Erika Jayne effect:
Jax’s source of stress didn’t only stem from social media. When he was 14, Jax became a storyline on RHOBH when Erika Jayne drunkenly cursed him out while filming. Naturally, it took a lot for Jax (and his mom) to get over what transpired. A fan noted “Erika was the first to malign him.”
Jax reconsidered his role on RHOBH:
The kind, bright young man decided taking a break from the spotlight is in his best interest.
We love that Jax was given the opportunity to make that decision for himself.
