I Don’t Want To Wait for a Dawson’s Creek reunion … and that wait won’t be much longer.
The cast is teaming up with F Cancer for a charity event in New York City on Monday, September 22 to support James Van Der Beek, who is battling stage 3 cancer.
The Dawson’s Creek Cast is showing up for James (and all affected by cancer):
Joining James – the guest of honor – are Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, and (my imaginary boyfriend) Joshua Jackson.
Their former castmates Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe and Busy Philipps will all be part of the event. The show includes a live reading of the show’s pilot to benefit the charity and Van Der Beek, who is currently battling stage 3 colorectal cancer.
Five time Academy Award nominee, Michelle Williams, chimed in to share her excitement. “We grew up in Capeside and that’s a bond that will last a lifetime.”
“We wanted to gather around our dear friend, James, and remind him that we are all here.” Michelle continued, “We always have been and we always will be. I know the fans of Dawson’s Creek feel the same way.”
Kevin Williamson will be there, too!
The show’s creator Kevin Williamson – who is also the creator of the Scream franchise – will be present for the reunion. It will be directed by Jason Moore.
“I am so excited to reunite with James, Michelle, Katie, Joshua, and our Dawson’s Creek family for such a special night. Dawson’s Creek changed my life.”
“What began as a personal story about a young man and his friends navigating their way through the challenges of life became so much more than I ever dreamed.”
He noted, “It created an enduring fandom and legacy all over the world. I am so honored to be a part of it and to support our beautiful friend, James, as we continue to navigate our way through life and its many challenges.”
